St. Louis County Inmate Bruce Brutsman

I came across this news story and just had to share it. Inmates who fakes a sickness to get transported to the hospital and then the inmate walks out the front door of the hospital was, what I thought, just some elaborate made up stories created in Hollywood. Well, apparently this St. Louis County inmate watched the same movies and decided to make this scene real life.

Bruce Brutsman, 36 years old, an inmate in the custody of St. Louis County, apparently swallowed a battery and was transported from the Justice Center to St. Mary’s Health Center in Richmond Heights at about 9:30 a.m. on Saturday June 24, 2017.

While under medical care and with a County Correctional Officer guarding him, Brutsman seemed to have escaped on foot; walking out of St. Mary’s Health Center. After slipping past the medical professionals and Correctional Officer, Brutsman stole a 1997 Toyota Tercel pizza delivery car and he was gone.

According to the report, Brutsman has a 10 year long rap sheet with the law with charges running from abuse, theft and even serving time for stealing. He was arrested this time with charges of burglary and property crime charges. The best part . . . even with this individual on the run and in the community, it took authorities 12 hours to inform the public this man could be in their neighborhood!

Brutsman’s escape only lasted a couple days. He was arrested at about noon on Wednesday June 28, 2017 near Festus, Missouri.
